The idea to construct a zoo for Lagos was one that developed over a period of time. All the founding partners had strong affinities with animals – particularly with horses and birds. And as tourists, residents and even schools, were always asking to visit the farm that was here, the exhausting but exhilarating adventure of creating a zoo involving conservation, education and the protection of nature, became the next logical step in the process. And, obviously, because of our geographical location within the borough of Lagos, we took the name Parque Zoológico de Lagos. Now, both nature lovers and enthusiasts can enjoy this special place that combines leisure and relaxation with education and conservation.
